The detection method is based on the principle of lateral flow immunoassay (immunochromatographic analysis), which relies on a highly specific "antigen-antibody" interaction resulting in the formation of an immune complex.
The sample is absorbed by the strip material. If human hemoglobin is present in the biomaterial, it immunologically binds to colloidal gold nanoparticles coated with anti-human hemoglobin antibodies. Driven by capillary forces, this complex migrates into the test zone (T) and reacts with other specific anti-human hemoglobin antibodies immobilized on the membrane. This results in the formation of a stable immune complex, leading to a visible coloring of the test line "T". If hemoglobin is absent from the sample, the test line "T" does not appear. The control line "C" serves as a procedural control and must always appear if the testing procedure is performed correctly.
